They’re cute, loyal and friendly and goats even look so much like dogs, actually most of them are milder and gentler than some dogs. Get friendly with them, and they respond with as much affection as dogs.
Yet 'we love one and eat the other?' If it's cruel to hurt a dog, how is it alright to drag a goat by his ears, tie him up outside a butcher shop, make him watch his companions being slaughtered and then kill him? At a butcher shop we saw, a goat tied under the butchering table...he was shivering with fear as blood kept dripping on him. Is that how we respect life?
