Pigs are intelligent, they can play video games, they can recognize people and each other and are often kept as pets because they are so affectionate and intelligent to be around.
But what you may not know is that the pig you have eaten spent a lifetime in a crate or concrete pen, went crazy and chewed bars, got attacked and attacked others in his madness and frustration. And what you may not know, is the way he was most probably killed.
Did you know that the standard way of killing a pig is not a quick stab to the heart, but by clubbing the screeching pigs head over and over again until he dies? And that is still the more 'humane' slaughter method.
The other commonly used method is to insert a rod through the anus, ripping through the internal organs, till the rod comes out from the mouth. This is done to little piglets too.
Through these photos we try to chronicle their lives, but , we will never be able to define.
