Dietary factors in the aetiology of gall stones: a case control study

Study shows non-vegetarian women are 2 times more likely to develop gall stones than vegetarian women

Method
Dietary intake was studied in 121 women with gall stones (identified in a prevalence survey using ultrasonography) and a similar number of age-matched controls in order to investigate nutritional factors in the aetiology of the condition.
Results
Vegetarian women have significantly lower frequency of gallstones at 11.5%, vs. 24.6% for non-vegetarian women.
